Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Sheikh Zayed Housing

The Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, HE Eng. Abdullah Belheif Al Nuaimi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry and Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre to enhance cooperation, exchange of information and training in the field of satellite imagery applications. In line with this, they have also signed a MoU with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program to share experiences and knowledge in the field of innovative green housing. This collaboration follows the space centre’s successful build of their ‘Passive House’ which was conceptualized to equip the space with the latest technological innovations using environmentally sustainable technologies. According to the memorandums, the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre will periodically supply the Ministry with multi-spectral satellite images and high-resolution biochromatic images and study the Ministry's needs in a number of areas in order to enhance the quality of infrastructure in the country. The satellite imagery captured and shared will have different applications, particularly environmental ones, which will help control desertification and provide important information on beaches and pollution levels, which will help the ministry launch projects and initiatives aimed at preserving the environment and reducing the impact of urban infrastructure developments. The agreement also allows for an enhanced cooperation between the centre and the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program and the exchange of experiences in the field of urban projects that rely on renewable energies and intelligent technologies that are environmentally friendly. A joint study will also be carried out with the aim of achieving a high-quality design of a sustainable and independent villa which will then be applied at a broader level, taking into account all principles of design integrity. HE Eng. Abdullah Belheif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, said: "The signing of the memorandums of understanding comes within the framework of the ministry's and the program's keenness to keep abreast of technical and technological developments related to artificial intelligence and innovations supporting the infrastructure system.” He added: "Such memorandums have a role in fulfilling the aspirations of the wise leadership in promoting complementarity among the various governmental bodies in both the federal and local sectors. This reflects the success of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, which aims at adapting modern technology and innovations to enhance the work system." The Minister of Infrastructure Development also pointed out that the joint cooperation enhances the role of the national support and catalyzes innovation to become the main engine of the comprehensive development system in accordance with the UAE in line with the vision of UAE 2021 and the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai." We hope to contribute as much as possible to the country's strategy of halting the dependence on fossil-produced energy by 2050, as well as establishing the UAE as a world leader in sustainability science." He stressed the need to focus on the strategy adopted by the Centre, which supports work with various bodies and ministries and cooperation with the private sector in order to make the most of the advanced technologies owned by the Centre. He also noted the importance of signing the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, which pays particular attention to the sharing of information and training in the field of satellite image applications to benefit the Ministry's urban projects in the UAE and the Memorandum of Understanding with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program. Al-Mansouri also stressed the importance of reconciling the strategy adopted by the Centre with those of the Government in order to ensure coordination of efforts between them and to ensure effective implementation of projects and achieve the desired benefits. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre has developed and built the Al-Baseef House in the Al Khawaneej area of Dubai. It is a house independent of the public electricity network in Dubai. It produces energy from renewable sources and is characterized by intelligent technologies and sensor systems, innovative wall insulation techniques, electricity storage system, battery storage system, the use of coolant water and renewable air in an ultra-sophisticated intelligent cooling system which is a quantum leap in architecture and sustainability science. Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre will also organize a series of conferences and workshops aimed at developing the human resources in the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, refining their skills, enhancing their technical capabilities and introducing them to various applications of satellite imagery in the field of remote sensing and geographic information collection. The space centre will also provide technical support for joint research and studies as well as organize specialized workshops to raise awareness among Sheikh Zayed Housing Program staff about the latest innovations in sustainable architecture.
