Mohammad AlMulla

Mohammad AlMulla was selected as part of the second batch of the UAE Astronaut Programme in 2021. He holds a commercial pilot’s license and became the youngest pilot in Dubai Police at the age of 19. With over 15 years of experience in aviation, he served as the Head of the Training Department at the Air Wing Centre of Dubai Police. He graduated from NASA’s Astronaut Candidate Class in 2024, earning his astronaut pin and qualifying for future space missions.

Education

AlMulla obtained his commercial pilot’s license from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority at the age of 19. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law and economics and an Executive Master of Public Administration from the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government.

Experience

AlMulla joined Dubai Police as a pilot, quickly rising to prominence as the youngest pilot in the organisation. He later became the youngest trainer at the Air Wing Centre and eventually served as the Head of the Training Department. Over his 15-year career, he gained extensive experience in flight operations, training, and aircraft management.

His contributions to aviation earned him several accolades, including the Bravery Medal from H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Commander in Chief Award for Best Officer in a Specialised Field. AlMulla also actively participated in community initiatives, serving on the Dubai Police Youth Council and the Dubai Police Job Happiness and Satisfaction Council, reflecting his commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture.

Training

AlMulla was selected as part of the second batch of the UAE Astronaut Programme. His initial training at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre included swimming, scuba diving, survival exercises, and stamina improvement.

He later joined NASA’s 2021 Astronaut Candidate Class at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. His training encompassed five primary areas: spacewalking at the Neutral Buoyancy Lab, robotics, ISS systems, piloting the T-38 jet, and Russian language lessons. He also participated in survival training at Fort Novosel, Alabama, and completed Earth geology training in preparation for future planetary exploration.

In 2024, AlMulla successfully graduated from the NASA Astronaut Candidate Class, receiving his astronaut pin and becoming fully qualified for space missions. His rigorous training and expertise position him as a vital contributor to the UAE’s space exploration initiatives.
